Open world first-person shooter game “Homefront: The Revolution” has released its spring update. The latest downloadable content (DLC) of the game was released on March 7 along with free trials and additional features.

What is included in the free trial

As mentioned, “Homefront: The Revolution” spring update is available now for download. The first thing that gamers can look forward to is the free trial of the game. For players who have yet to explore the city of Philadelphia, now is the chance to download the game for free and enjoy the Philly experience.

The free trial will include a total of two modes for the game. These are the Resistance mode and the Campaign mode. Both of these options have their respective limits as to what parts of the mode are free and what parts aren’t.

For the Resistance Mode, there will be unlimited access all throughout the co-operative mode of the game. This will include an all-access pass to all additional missions and character customisation content released since the launch date in 2016.

In addition to the free access, there will be no in-game micro-transactions throughout the mode. This means that players can enjoy all contents of the Renaissance mode and battle out enemies with up to four-player teams absolutely free of charge.

On the other hand, the Campaign mode will allow players to try only the first Red Zone area of the game for free. This zone will give gamers a total of four solid hours of gameplay. The previously mentioned trial will be free to download from the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network.

Furthermore, players who download the trial will be able to download the entire game and its content. This means that at any point, gamers can pay to unlock the full version to continue the game.

PS4 Pro support and HDR support

Apart from the abovementioned free contents, PlayStation Pro owners will also be able to experience additional contents for the game. The game is now rendered in 1440p, and all HUD/UI elements are rendered in 4K.

This will provide superior image quality on 4K TVs and a crisper, super-sampled image on HDTVs. In addition, the frame rate performance is further improved for this update. Another addition is that the Easter egg content is now rendered in native 4K.

The 'Beyond the Wall' DLC

The “Beyond the Walls” DLC will be the third and final downloadable that the game developers will release. Since this will be the last DLC for the game, its content will be the largest piece of single-player content. Set in a new rural environment beyond Philadelphia, the game feels much more similar to the original "Homefront’s" setting.

The Homefront website describes the storyline of the update. It said, "The second American Revolution has been crushed by the KPA occupation forces, and Philadelphia – last stronghold of the Resistance – is about to fall. In America’s darkest hour, a glimmer of hope appears when a NATO agent makes contact from beyond the city walls with a desperate call for help. They claim to have information that could finally end the occupation – but can the Resistance reach them before the KPA close in?"

The DLC will be free to all holders of the Expansion Pass. If one fails to purchase the pass, the DLC will be available to purchase separately for US$12.99 (AU$17.27).“Homefront:The Revolution” is playable through PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Linux and Macintosh operating systems platforms.
