The FOX drama series “Gotham” has gone into winter break just in time to let fans catch their breath. After an intense opening half of the season, executive producer Bruno Heller reveals some insights about what took place, and what to expect for the rest of Season 2. [Warning: Spoiler Alert]

Crossing the line with Jim Gordon

Heller tells TV Line that having Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) pull the trigger on Theo Galavan (James Frain) in the fall finale was something that caused major discussions within the show’s creative team. However, he stands by the decision because the whole theme of the show has been about pushing moral boundaries. However, he reveals that Jim crossed the line and that doesn’t come without its repercussions. “The important thing about what he just did there is that there will be consequences. Serious consequences,” he said.

Baby on the way

Heller admits that it’s a little spooky how they always had a baby in their mind while they were developing the storyline between Jim Gordon and Dr. Lesley Thompkins. E News reveals that actress Morena Baccarin, who plays Lesley, is in a real-life relationship with McKenzie, who plays Gordon. Earlier this year, they announced that she is pregnant. Luckily, her pregnancy came at the right moment in the show’s storyline. “It seems spooky but it’s not, really, since these two characters have a relationship on screen. They’re in love and moving forward, and that’s what happens,” he saidsc.

Horrendous scenes to come

Following his close call with Theo Galavan and the Order of St. Dumas, Bruce Wayne is a changed man. Heller reveals that he will be even more determined to get to the bottom of the mystery that killed his parents, and all the hidden anomalies in Wayne Enterprises. Heller says that the laboratory in Indian Hill will be playing a big part in the second half of the season. Dr. Hugo Strange and his creepy experiments will make for some interesting, spectacular and horrendous scenes.

Apart from Dr. Strange, the teasers that have been released for Episode 12, hinted heavily on the appearance of Mr. Freeze. Gordon and the GCPD will have their hands full as “Gotham Season 2: Rise of the Villains” returns.

“Gotham” Season 2, Episode 12 will air on Feb. 29, at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
