A picture of Sansa’s letter to the Blackfish from episode 8 of “Game of Thrones” Season 6 has been released online. The letter reveals that there is some controversy about who it was addressed to.

[Spoiler alert]

As the Starks prepare for battle against the Boltons, Sansa knew that their limited numbers could potentially lead to disaster. She suggested that support from her mother’s uncle Brynden ‘Blackfish’ Tully (Clive Russell) would lead to the other Houses in the north to rally to the Starks.

A picture of Sansa’s letter has been posted on Making Game of Thrones. However, the letter seems to be addressed to Edmure Tully (Tobias Menzies), who is Sansa’s uncle. Although the letter doesn’t mention anyone by name; it is addressed to her uncle.

Blackfish being Catelyn’s (Michelle Fairley) uncle, can’t be the one Sansa is addressing, unless the writers made a mistake and forgot about their relationship. However, it should be noted that Edmure is the lord of the castle and the Tully forces in “Game of Thrones” Season 6, and he is Sansa’s uncle. But, since he was a prisoner at the time of the writing of the letter, it is not clear why it would be addressed to him.

In the letter Sansa tells her uncle that she was just a baby the last time he saw her, but she is “not a little girl anymore.” She calls herself “Lady Sansa Stark of Winterfell” and asks her uncle to aid her with all the soldiers he can muster and ride north.

Sansa calls upon her uncle to help her on account of their bonds of family, honour and duty. The help she was seeking did not come, however, and the Starks have a challenging battle ahead in episode 9 of “Game of Thrones” Season 6.
