LG G5 owners can now enjoy the VR experience with 360-degree wallpapers, available for free. LG Electronics announced free spherical wallpapers which can be set as a background picture on the LG G5.

“The G5 is designed to deliver a playful mobile experience to customers and 360-degree imagery is a key part of that experience,” said Chris Yie, vice president and head of marketing communications for LG Mobile Communications Company in press note.

“360-degree photography is still in its early stages but we believe it will drive adoption of VR innovation in the mobile space,” added Yie.

LG G5 owners can download free spherical wallpapers from LG Sm artWorld. Professionally captured images will be available in all 69 countries where LG SmartWorld is available.

However, LG has set a time frame between April and November.

With the 360-degree wallpaper, as the user moves the phone or swipes the display, the background will give an experience similar to the world of virtual reality. The 360-degree photos can also be viewed in Cinematic View, says LG.

It is worth noting that the images captured by the LG 360 CAM can also be used as wallpapers on the LG G5.

In the United States, LG G5 is currently available on US Cellular in Titan, Gold, Pink and Silver colour variants. LG’s latest flagship smartphone will also be offered by AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon, confirmed LG Electronics.

Here’s quick recap of the LG G5 specs and features. LG’s first modular phone sports a 5.3-inch Quantum QHD display adorning an aluminum unibody design.

Powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 SoC, the LG G5 features a generous 4GB of RAM paired with 32GB of internal storage, expandable up to 2TB.

The handset also includes a dual rear camera module with a standard 16-megapixel sensor along with an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens. There is also a 2,800mAh battery to keep the lights on.
