This week, the Prison of Elders will gets its own Twitch live stream for the expected reveal. But before that, Bungie has given fans a glimpse and a few details of the different changes coming to the Crucible.

In Bungie’s weekly update, Senior Crucible Designer Derek Carroll recapped what has been discussed as the changes coming with the update 1.2.0. There are a lot of rewards looming with the update. Legendary items will already be included in the post-game award tables for Crucible activities. Plus, just for playing the featured Crucible activity, players will have a chance to earn a new reward package per day for every first match played.

Other changes include the availability of the Etheric Light via Lord Saladin once the player reaches Rank 3 and 5 in the Iron Banner. In line with the Iron Banner, the noted spawn locking issue will be fixed with the update.

Some fixes for the Iron Banner have also been announced. Access to the Iron Banner canbe done via the Featured Activities panel using the main Director interface. A navigation bug will not allow players to access it via the Crucible menu. Another issue that some players have been noticing is weapons that are not counted towards the Iron Banner “Focused Aggression” Bounty, Bungie has noted that the bounty requires 20 headshots with a Primary weapon.

Some weapons are not counted as such; rather they are still counted as Special weapons. Among these are the Vex Mythoclast, No Land Beyond and Universal Remote.

Interestingly, a Reddit thread compiled some points regarding supposedly revealed details for Crucible and Trials of Osiris that were not part of the official reveal. Some of these include the 12 new Legendary items dropping in the Crucible and Trials matchmaking connections being chosen over skill. Some of them, however, have already been mentioned by the developer.

Bungie also revealed that it will be giving away three multiplayer maps for Crucible from “The Dark Below” for free. According to GameRant, these maps include Skyshock, The Cauldron and Pantheon. This is great for players who don’t necessarily want to buy “The Dark Below” expansion, as they will still get to play the maps regardless.

The source makes a good point about how this may affect the future expansions. Free DLCs is always a great way to invite back players who may have fallen out of the “Destiny” loop. But for those who have bought the expansion, it may not sit well with the way that something that they paid for is now just being given away for free.
