While the Avengers are busy defending the earth from the internal and otherworldly attacks, the “Guardians of the Galaxy” are traversing space to protect different worlds existing in space. Both groups are part of the same intricate Marvel Cinematic Universe and they also share the same timeline, which is why according to actor Dave Bautista, the idea of a crossover is not at all farfetched.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Dave Bautista, who plays Drax in “The Guardians of the Galaxy,” said a resounding yes when asked if he wants to have a crossover with "The Avengers" at some point.

"Yeah, come on, man. Hell yeah. Yeah, of course I would,” he said. “At the core of me is the biggest geek you’ve ever met. I’m a superhero fan first and foremost, and…of course, man, I want that to happen.”

Bautista is hoping for a cosmic intervention to make the crossover come to fruition, though the man in-charge of “Guardians of the Galaxy,” director James Gunn, has downplayed the idea of a crossover anytime soon.

The actor admitted that the possibility of a crossover is a rumour for now, but he prays for it to become a reality. He said, “... I pray every day…and night, and afternoon, and after you walk out the door I’ll go pray and say, ‘Please let Drax be in 'The Avengers'.’”

“Guardians of the Galaxy” is a 2014 superhero film that features a group of extraterrestrial misfits coming together to keep a powerful artefact off the hands of supervillain Thanos. In the film, Bautista’s character, Drax The Destroyer, is a warrior who seeks revenge against Ronan The Accuser.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is slated to open on May 05, 2017.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios' Phase 3 master-plan is shaping up, which is set to start with 2016 release of “Captain America: Civil War.” The stars are aligning for a possible, unprecedented teaming up of a slew of superheroes.
