The man of mystery is set to return and entice readers with his brand new novel. Author Dan Brown's sixth novel "Inferno" will be published on May 14, Doubleday publisher confirmed on Tuesday.

In "Inferno," Dan Brown will once again feature the famous character Robert Langon who brought success to his other novels like "The Da Vinci Code" and "The Lost Symbol." The Harvard professor of "symbology" will focus this time on one of history's mysterious literary masterpieces in Europe.

"Although I studied Dante's Inferno as a student, it wasn't until recently, while researching in Florence, that I came to appreciate the enduring influence of Dante's work on the modern world. With this new novel, I am excited to take readers on a journey deep into this mysterious realm. A landscape of codes, symbols and more than a few secret passageways," Brown revealed in a statement

Social networking sites like "Facebook" and "Twitter" contributed in revealing Dan Brown's latest novel title. Readers were invited to utilize the social media web sites in exposing a digital mosaic with their profile images added as tiles. The novel title "Inferno" became visible as more profile images were put in.

"Dan Brown's enthusiasm for puzzles, codes and symbols is a passion shared by his readers. The marketing stunt was intended to harness that passion and use it as a catalyst to reveal the new title," Suzanne Herz at Brown's US publisher Doubleday stated.

Dan Brown's work on the novel "The Lost Symbol" became a blockbuster hit. The book has sold over 1 million copies in 24 hours after its release in several United States, United Kingdom and Canada bookstores. His other novels that became successful as well are "The Da Vinci Code," "Angels & Demons," "Deception Point" and "Digital Fortress."
