For having sex in broad daylight at the Bradenton Beach in Florida on July 20, 2014, a Florida couple faces prison term of 15 years and is required to register as sex offenders. A three-year-old girl saw the pair copulating, according to witnesses.

For what they did, 40-year-old Jose Caballero and 20-year-old Elissa Alvarez are now facing two charges each of lewd and lascivious behaviour, reports the Miami Herald. A video, which was played in the courtroom, helped convict the couple.

A grandmother, whose three-year-old granddaughter saw the couple having sex, captured the lovemaking session on her iPhone, reports NBC. “(The child) wanted me to explain what they were doing … I redirected her and we looked at seashells,” Bradenton Herald quotes April Champ, the grandmother.

While there is no sentencing date yet, Assistant State Attorney Anthony Dafonseca wants harsher sentence on the man who has a previous conviction for cocaine trafficking. Caballero has been released for less than three years from his almost previous eight-year prison term, Dafonseca pointed out.

He disclosed that they offered the couple a reasonable offer, but the two refused to take responsibility for their action and insisted they were just cuddling and wrestling, despite the video and testimonies against them. While the kin of the two insist the crime they did do not deserve the kind of attention the case is receiving, Dafonseca said that Manatee’s public beaches attract a lot of tourists.

“You want to make sure that this isn’t something that just goes by the wayside. And that it is well known to the community, what will be tolerate and what won’t be,” he said, quotes Miami Herald.
