There are videogames studios that bank on the security of established franchises and then there are the intrepid risk takers who bankroll their fortune on ambitious yet untested videogame ideas. Compulsion Games is of the latter kind and took the risk with the 2013 platform puzzler "Contrast." It appears the developer has been busy since its maiden game. Compulsion has released a few clues hinting at its next game.

The Canadian developer has launched a brand new website replete with forums and other content that possibly points to a brand new IP in the works. According to Save Continue, Compulsion Games has used the website as a vehicle for teasing what would be its second videogame after "Contrast," which was released on the PC, Xbox One, PS4, PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013. The new project hasn't been named yet, but the hints posted on the website make it look like this could be a brand new IP.

The new website was created after the old one, serving as the portal for "Contrast," was shut down by the developer. The new minimalist website hosts a few examples of concept art from the yet-unnamed project. Going by the striking thematic differences between the new artwork and that of the first game underscores that the company could be working on a new IP.

Of course, then there's the fact that the website goes on to clarify that the teasers aren't related to a sequel to "Contrast." The developer hasn't ruled out a sequel to its first game yet, but it cites the urge to make something "fresh, new and exciting" as the motivation behind the new game.

Compulsion hasn't revealed much apart from how the game, which is currently in development, will be "something new and exciting." It also added that the game will involve masks, drugs and memory loss. The developer then added in light-hearted fashion that gamers shouldn't confuse it for a swinger's party. Compulsion Games has promised to reveal more about the game over the course of this month, so watch this space for updates.
