Ernie Hudson is said to be looking to play the role of the ruler of the fantasy African kingdom of Wakanda in “Captain America: Civil War,” according to a report. The actor is known for his role in the 1984 movie “Ghostbusters.”

Casting news for “Captain America: Civil War” continues as the producers look to fill the remaining roles in the movie. According to a report by LatinoReview, Ernie Hudson has been reading comic books about Black Panther and is said to be specifically looking for the comics featuring T'Chaka, the king of Wakanda.

The character Black Panther is set to make a brief appearance in “Captain America: Civil War.” Since this is the first time that the viewers will get to see the character in the movies, it is expected to be an origin story.

The report also states that the veteran actor has been “hitting the gym,” to prepare for the role. There is no confirmation that the actor is formally negotiating for the role in the upcoming movie and readers are advised to treat this news as a rumour at this time.

Actors angling for a specific role and researching about it is “nothing new,” the report points out. The author of the report, El Mayimbe, also posted this image on his official Instagram account that shows Ernie Hudson and T'Chaka side by side.

Another actor who could play the role of the king of Wakanda is Denzel Washington. The report rules out the possibility of the actor playing the role in the upcoming movie, suggesting that the high pay that the actor quotes may dissuade Marvel from casting him.

The report points out that one of the comic book stories features the death of T'Chaka at the hands of Ulysses Klaw, a character played by Andy Serkis in “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” According to the comic books T'Chaka’s son T’Challa will eventually take revenge on the people responsible for his father’s murder.

Chadwick Boseman will be playing the role of T’Challa in “Captain America: Civil War.” His role in the movie will allow Marvel to set the stage for the 2018 movie “Black Panther,” in which Boseman will be reprising his role.
