A video of a mystery woman dubbed as “Calgary’s Worst Driver” trying to back out of a parking space has gone viral. Since it was posted on YouTube on Dec. 4, the video has reached 3.5 million views.

The woman in the video earned her name as “Calgary’s Worst Driver” from Calgary police digital communications officer, Cst. Jeremy Shaw. He tweeted, “I nominate you as #yyc's #worstdriver! And yes, we have already started a hit and run investigation.”

Captured by a surveillance camera, the video shows the BMW SUV driver backing into a parked vehicle at a business in the 4000 block of Manilla Road S.E. and tries to get turned around for several minutes. Eventually, she leaves the snow-covered parking lot and drives off.

To teach drivers the common risks of parking and backing out, the Alberta Motor Association (AMA) offers a safe backing course. The AMA’S Ron Wilson told Global News drivers should “back up very slowly,” make sure to “look mainly out the back window and check both mirrors.”

According to the AMA, some drivers encounter problems backing because 95 percent of driving is spent moving forward and only five percent is spent going backwards.

After the video went viral, Calgary police later tracked the woman down and gave her a $115 ticket for unsafe backing. Watch the viral "Calgary's Worst Driver" video here:
