Supermarket giant Coles has issued a recall of its Dry Fit diapers after a mother posted on Facebook that her baby allegedly choked on frayed diaper material from one of the diapers that she bought. Her post went viral on Facebook which prompted Coles to investigate the incident.

Customer Alexandra Mayock, said she found her 10-month-old daughter choking on what appeared to be cotton when she came inside the room to check on her baby after putting her down to sleep.

Ms Mayock posted photos of the frayed Dry Fit Day and Night diaper on Facebook. The headline was in all caps and read "HUGE WARNING TO ALL PARENTS/CARERS!"

Ms Mayock wrote on her Facebook wall: "Today I went in to get Lily from her cot and there was fraying ALL OVER HER and she was CHOKING ON IT" She continued with, "This is SUCH A SAFETY HAZARD! I am still shaking."

Ms Mayock said she had called Coles to complain about the damaged diaper and the company replied that it would be happy to refund her money. She appeared to be upset even after Coles had agreed to a refund because she was thinking what would happen if she hadn't come into the room on time to check on her baby.

"She wasn't making any noise because she had started choking being unable to breathe because this crap was down her throat! She could have died! I am so furious!!!"

After her rant, she then urged everyone to not buy those nappies from Coles. Ms Mayock's post went viral with 35,000 people sharing the post in less than 24 hours.

Coles had contacted Ms Mayock to say that the company will be recalling its diapers and they would be off the shelves in all of their stores nationwide. The company reiterated that they issued the recall because "safety is our number one concern."
