With the release of Asus’s new Chromebook, the Flip C100, the company is gearing itself yet again with a new smartphone that will launch early 2016. The company is said to launch the successor of its PadFone S dubbed the PadFone S2, which could hit shelves by early 2016. The news came from user Leaksfly who took to Chinese social media site, Weibo. Leaksfly said that the PadFone S2 will hit the market in March 2016.

The smartphone reportedly runs on a Snapdragon 820 chipset from Qualcomm, according to Android Community. The PadFone S2 will also sport a 5.5-inch display accompanied by a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. The device will also have 4 GB of RAM, and buyers can choose between 32 GB and 64 GB of internal storage. For now, it is not yet known if the device’s memory is expandable via memory card but based on previous models that supported up to 64 GB of memory, it is likely that the PadFone S2 will also have the same feature.

As for the battery, PadFone S2 will be powered by a 3,060 mAh batter, which is also an improvement on the 2,300 mAh from the previous generation. It is also reported that the device will ship with Android M out of the box, as it would be the latest OS at the time.

Leaksfly also revealed that the PadFone S2's dock will have a 10-inch display, as well as a 5,100 mAh battery. However, the pricing and release of the same is not known as of now. Asus is yet to confirm the release date, specs and pricing of the PadFone S2.
