Ansel Elgort Talks Sexual Attraction Towards 'Insurgent' Costar Shailene Woodley

Ansel Elgort played Shailene Woodley’s brother in “Divergent” before becoming his love interest in “The Fault In Our Stars.” The pair will once again bring their sibling chemistry on screen in “Insurgent” and fans are supposedly left wondering if by chance there is sexual chemistry off screen as well between the two stars.

Ansel Elgort admitted there is nothing sexual in his relationship with fellow “Insurgent” star Shailene Woodley. The 23-year-old revealed in his April cover story for Seventeen magazine that his relationship with the actress is purely “platonic.” "I've never once wanted her sexually, which is nice," he said.

However, according to People Elgort also thinks of friendship as being a necessity especially in building a new relationship. The actor was straightforward when he added, "For me, if a person is someone I'm attracted to and she's my best friend, hopefully we're dating.”

Ansel Elgort once said he and Shailene Woodley have a special love for one another. In his 2014 interview with The Guardian about “The Fault In Our Stars,” Ansel said they “share a certain love” although it’s not the sexual kind but of “friendship.” He admitted that it’s this friendship that made working on the John Green film adaptation come easily for them, especially on the sex scenes.

The actor admitted in an interview with Bustle that he and Shailene Woodley didn’t feel the awkwardness that usually comes with doing the kissing and love scenes in any film. The actor revealed that he and Woodley were already good friends when they filmed “The Fault In Our Stars” that they already understood each other. “Immediately we are totally comfortable which is nice, because sometimes you do love scenes with people and you have to kiss them and you have to be romantic and it could be very awkward,” he said. Elgort and Woodley’s friendship reportedly started when they both starred in “Divergent” and played as siblings Beatrice and Caleb Prior.

Ansel Elgort may not be sexually attracted to Shailene Woodley, but he definitely admires her as an actress. In the same Bustle interview he praised his “Insurgent” costar for being one of the best actors around and considered it as a huge compliment being paired with her.
