“The Young Pope” season 1 episode 4 has been shown and very little took place in terms of its plot. Episode 4 of the series was filled with random things strung together, particularly when the young pope (Jude Law) rebuffed Esther's (Ludivine Sagnier) advances and watched her have sex with her husband.

The fourth episode of “The Young Pope ” has also seen Esther trying to convince Voiello (Silvio Orlando) that Pope Pius XIII has a good heart. Esther said he only cares about his soul, to which Voiello replied that she’s only deluding herself.

According to Refinery29, it felt like the pope and Esther will start having an affair in “The Young Pope” episode 4. But the last episode focused on Esther and her husband, Peter (Biagio Forestieri) making love against the window while Pope Pius XIII is watching and dropping to his knees to pray they will be given a child.

Meanwhile, the prime minister of Greenland (Carolina Carlsson) visits the Vatican. The pope has compared the Catholics in Greenland to the Native Americans before uttering that God must be residing under all the Greenland ice.

From the looks of it, the prime minister was puzzled if he intended to joke or not, so she simply replied with an awkward smile. It was a valid reaction for the young pope.

Moreover, Pope Pius XIII has explained that true believers should not cry at funerals because it is opposite Catholicism's view of the afterlife. The idea is that family members should not be sad and should be celebrating for their loved one has accomplished the ultimate goal: to get to be with God.

It is expected that more of the pope’s views will be revealed in the upcoming episodes of “The Young Pope.” The remaining episodes are slated to air Sundays and Mondays at 9PM in HBO in the US. Fans in Australia can catch up with “The Young Pope” through HBO GO.
