Xiaomi is now giving Samsung some tough competition with Mi Edge. Now, the Korean tech giant has a rival in marketing smartphones that boast of screens that stretch to their sides.

Finally, another tech company has taken on curved screen displays to give Samsung competition. Based on a recently leaked image, Xiaomi - known Chinese smarpthone maker - is currently working on Mi Edge.

According to Tech Times, Xiaomi is the leading smartphone seller in China. Although the company, as of the moment, already offers a long list of devices, the Mi Edge is its very first one to feature working screens on the handset's sides - pretty much like the Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy Note Edge. It was also reported that its screen was made by Sharp.

Mobile Dad has confirmed that the Xiaomi had actually taken inspiration from the Galaxy S6 Edge and Xiaomi's very own Mi Note.

Apart from curved screens, the Mi Edge also boasts of a 5.2-inch 2K display that has a 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution. It will reportedly run on a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor. Rumor has it that the device will either have 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM. With regards to the unit's camera, the rumor mill is abuzz with speculations that the Mi Edge will come out with a 16-megapixel rear camera - one that is readily installed with OIS, or optical image stabilization. The device will also feature a built-in finger print scanner.

Considering that the aforementioned specs are rumors, they must be taken with a grain of salt. To date, Xiaomi has neither confirmed nor denied them. However, once they do turn out to be true, then it looks like the Mi Edge will certainly be competing with the Galaxy S6 Edge. One edge that it has over Samsung's flagship is that it is way more affordable at only $350.
