With nearly 900 million active users, WhatsApp is the most popular instant messaging apps across different platforms like iOS, Android, and more. Speculations are rife that WhatsApp for iOS will soon receive a new feature of video calling in few weeks. After its iOS arrival, it will also arrive for Android users.

Facebook has been teasing since past one year that video calling feature for WhatsApp users. However, it is only now that its arrival seems imminent. According to International Business Times, a German blog, Macerkopf.de has revealed that WhatsApp for iOS with version 2.12.16.2 (an internal build) contains the video calling feature.

The video calling feature will let WhatsApp users to start and receive video calls on a Wi-Fi connection as well as cellular data. Once a video call is initiated, a small movable preview window of the caller will show up on the topside of the screen. Since it is movable, users will place that window anywhere on the screen.

During the video call, users will be able to switch between the frontal as well as the rear camera. The mute function will be also available on a video call.

The German blog has revealed a leaked snapshot of the upcoming video calling feature for WhatsApp for iOS users. The current edition of WhatsApp for iOS (version 2.12.12) on the Apple App Store does not have video calling feature but the next version of the app is expected to feature it, iDownload Blog reported.

One of the new features that will also arrive soon for WhatsApp users is multiple chat tabs. It will enable users to seamlessly switch between different conversations without having the need to access the WhatsApp chat list.

Speculations are rife that WhatsApp will soon receive new design. The developers are expected to concentrate on redesigning its appearance in green color.
