“Westworld” season 2 is confirmed to arrive in 2018. This has been confirmed by HBO president of programming Casey Bloys. The exact release date for the sophomore season of the series is yet to be announced.

Since “Westworld” has been officially renewed for another season, it was widely speculated that the show could return in late 2017 or in 2018. Now it was apparently made clear that the show is not coming back this year. “Here's the good news: We've got Westworld coming back for 2018,” Bloys said during HBO's annual bash on Jan. 8.

Bloys was previously unsure if “Westworld” season 2 will come out this year or in 2018. “I don't know if it will be fall of 2017 or into '18. That will depend as we get up and running,” he told the Hollywood Reporter last year.

The HBO president of programming explained that the production for “Westworld” season 2 is a big endeavour. Therefore, he could not provide a specific release date yet. Actor Luke Hemsworth (Stubbs) told the Independent that the reason for season 2's delay is to ensure that things are done right. “They want to go in with a clear plan -- A to Z and everything in between. At least have drafts in place,” he said.

Aside from “Westworld” season 2, Bloys has revealed that there are other new shows coming up. These include “Big Little Lies,” “The Deuce” from David Simon and the last season of “The Leftovers.” “I hope people will remember “Girls” next year because it's a great show and I think it gets overlooked,” Bloys added.

Last year, the network took home one Golden Globe award for limited series “Show Me a Hero.” It also took home one Golden Globe in 2015 for “The Normal Heart.”

The first season of “Westworld” started airing in Australia on Oct. 3 through Foxtel. The series aired in the US and the UK through HBO. Exact release date for “Westworld” season 2 is expected to be announced in the near future.
