Updated Recap: Here's the second episode of the Battle Rounds in 'The Voice AU' Season 5

Here are the highlights of “The Voice AU” Season 5, Episode 10, where five contestants were saved and three went home.

‘The Voice Australia’ 2016 Battle 1: Team Ronan kicks off the next level of competition

Sam Trenwith vs Mikaela Dean. Adelaide’ Sam was in Episode 3. Ronan and Delta turned for him. Sydney’s Mikaela was in Episode 6; she got Ronan by default. Both are 21 years old. Coach Ronan saw in them a match in their “colour” and energy. They took on “Harder to Breathe” by Maroon 5. Jessie J. thought it was a good battle. The Maddens said they’d pick Mikaela. Coach Ronan picked Sam. All the other coaches wanted to save Mikaela (each coach gets to save two contestants); she chose Jessie.

‘The Voice Australia’ 2016 Battle 2: Team Jessie brings in Disney princesses

Ashleigh Marshall vs Carmel Rodrigues. Melbourne’s Ashleigh was in Episode 5; she sang “Reflection” and turned most coaches except Delta. Sydney’s Carmel was in Episode 6. She took on “Part of Your World” and turned Jessie J. and the Madden brothers. They share quite a lot in common: both 16, both bullied at school, both went for Disney themes in the blind auditions. They performed “Colours of the Wind” from Disney’s “Pocahontas” and got a standing ovation from all the coaches. Joel Madden thought the two teenagers, with their genuine smiles, showed the best attitude on the battle stage, ever. Jessie J. picked Ashleigh. The Maddens saved Carmel. Jessie J. said she hoped the teens’ bashers were watching.

‘The Voice Australia’ 2016 Battle 3: Team Delta dishes a coming of age performance

Elle Murphy vs Tash Lockhart. Both ladies, 19 and 22, respectively, were in Episode 2. Melbourne’s Elle turned most chairs except Jessie’s, while Gold Coast’s Tash turned Ronan and Delta. Rehearsals were tough for Elle, who was feeling overpowered while singing “What Kind Of Man” by Florence + the Machine. Saying she believed in her, Delta picked Elle. Tash won the battle for Ronan; he even fought the Maddens to save her. Tash is now with Team Ronan.

‘The Voice Australia’ 2016 Battle 4: Team Madden draws extra loud audience

Blake Morgan vs Don Leaton. Sydney’s Blake, 21, was in Episode 1; he got the Maddens by default. NSW Central Coast’s Don, 18, was in Episode 5; he turned most coaches except Delta. The Maddens tried to work on their confidence as the two struggled with Sam Mendes’ “Stitches” during the rehearsals. The live audience got too loud during the battle, that the coaches had a hard time listening to them. Asked for advice, Jessie J. picked Blake but Ronan thought Don’s tone was better. The Maddens kept Blake. Don was the first contestant to go home in Episode 10.

‘The Voice Australia’ 2016 Battle 5: Team Ronan pairs up the pros

Nic Jeffries vs Nina Ferro. Sydney’s Nic, 32, was in Episode 8. He got a standing ovation and an all-turn from all the coaches after performing Paul Simon’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” for his blind audition. Melbourne’s Nina, 41, was in Episode 3; she turned most coaches except Jessie J. Both are professional musicians. Ronan said the one who would stand out is the artist who’d show a stronger connection to Adele’s “All I Ask” during the battle. Jessie J. thought it was “really good” but she “didn’t feel anything.” Ronan thought the two “dug deep.” Delta was with Ronan, saying the two should be proud. Ronan picked Nina, feeling bad that no coach wanted to save Nic.

‘The Voice Australia’ 2016 Battle 6: Team Jessie matches up two stylish artists

Calvin Swart vs Jack Pellow. Brisbane’s Calvin, 20, was in Episode 4; he turned both Jessie and the Maddens. Melbourne’s Jack, 22, turned most coaches except for the Maddens. While rehearsing “Sweet Dreams” by Eurythmics, Jack’s nerves became an issue. Jessie wanted them to be confident and commit to their art. Ronan thought Jack was “special” while Delta Calvin should move forward. For their coach, each of them had what the other needed to be a better artist. She picked Jack. Delta saved Calvin.

‘The Voice Australia’ 2016 Battle 7: Team Delta showcases ‘leading ladies’

Marryann Wright vs Natasha Hoeberigs. Ronan was the only other coach who turned for both Marryann, 24, and Natasha, 23, in Episodes 2 and 9, respectively. Delta liked the intensity of their blind auditions and saw in them the potential to become musical leading ladies. She picked “Memories” from the musical “Cats” by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Coaches Ronan and Jessie J. both said they wished to see them sing outside of a scripted character. Delta decided Marryann won this battle.

‘The Voice Australia’ 2016 Battle 8: Team Madden delivers a solid showstopper

Lane Sinclair vs Georgia Wiggins. Lane, 21, turned most coaches except Jessie in her blind audition in Episode 2. Georgia, 16, got the Maddens and Ronan in Episode 8. Joel said he wanted the two to “spring to life.” The brothers picked Lorde’s “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” cover for the movie “Hunger Games.” They got a standing ovation from all the coaches. Ronan thought the match was amazing; he couldn’t pick a winner. The Maddens picked Lane, saying she was ready for the live rounds. Ronan saved Georgia just in the nick of time.

By the end of the episode, Ronan Keating has used his two saves. He got Tash from Team Delta and Georgia from Team Madden.
