“The Voice Australia” 2016 a.k.a. “The Voice AU” Season 5 returned May 22 on Nine, starting with a total of ten slots left to fill and ending with four for the final night of blind auditions. By the start of the episode, coaches Delta Goodrem and the Madden brothers already had ten talents each, while coaches Ronan Keating and Jessie J. had three slots each to complete a team of twelve talents.

Jessie J quickly got two more talents in as many turns by inadvertently going for sisters. The first contestant to emerge on the stage for Episode 8 is Jasmine Jade Nasser, 21, from Sydney. She sang “Almost is Never Enough” and got coaches Jessie J. and Ronan Keating to turn around.

Jasmine’s 23-year-old sister Nada-Leigh Nasser auditioned separately, but the coaches were second-guessing themselves at this stage. The slots were filling up, and they couldn’t decide in favour of Nada. Fortunately for the sisters and their family, Jessie J pressed her button – sans competition - in the nick of time. The coaches only learned the two young ladies were sisters after Nada performed.

Mid-way through the eighth night of blind auditions, the coaches are becoming edgy, aware of the crucial choices they have to make. For Ronan and Jessie J, who share the same outspoken personality (among many others), the competition is really on! (On the other hand, all has been well so far between Delta and Jessie.) To lighten the mood, Jessie J took the stage to perform a Whitney Houston song, "I Have Nothing" for her own blind audition. She got a 4-chair turn! (Watch the video below.)

The Voice AU’ 2016 couple: Nic Jeffries and Skye Elizabeth

Nic Jeffries, 32, soon-to-be married to former “The Voice AU” contestant Skye Elizabeth, got a 4-chair turn after singing “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” Ronan won this time, leaving him with only one slot left, as he got Astrid Ripepi a couple of turns ago. Nic is the male voice Delta was looking for, but Ronan defended Nic's slow vibrato against Jessie's criticism, so that may have figured in Nic's decision.

Georgia Wiggins completes Team Madden for 'The Voice AU' 2016

Georgia Wiggins, 16, is arguably among the best of “The Voice AU” Episode 8. Singing “All I Want,” the nervous young girl completed Team Madden. The brothers also picked up Nazzereene Taleb, who sang “Gravity” earlier in the night.

Curious about Georgia’s song choice, Ronan Keating asked the teenager about what it means to her. Georgia then told the coaches that the song is about her mum, who died while giving birth to her. “I barely know you, but I am proud of you,” Ronan said, who later added that the Irish band Kodaline wrote the song in his garage. Despite that, Georgia chose the Maddens, crushing Ronan’s heart.
