An upcoming episode of “The Vampire Diaries” ("TVD") Season 7 is going to focus on vampire character Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder). "TVD" fans will find out more about Damon’s past through the flashback scenes in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 episode 10. [Spoiler Alert!]

“The Vampire Diaries” cast member Ian Somerhalder talked about filming an episode for the show’s seventh season in a Variety interview. Somerhalder shared that he worked on episode 10, which is a concept episode, for “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7.

“The episode was really about Damon, but that’s not why I think it was the best at all,” Somerhalder teased. The 36-year-old actor explained that episode 10 was the best because of the on-point details, starting from the episode’s storyline, to the show’s Atlanta set, to the producers and wardrobe.

“It was a Civil War episode,” Somerhalder further teased. While filming episode 10, Somerhalder shared that he was covered in dirt and gunpowder with stuff blowing up around him.

Somerhalder also shared that CW’s supernatural drama series has been working on episodes with a different approach following the exit of Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 6. The former “Lost” actor admitted that he thought “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 will be very different from the show’s typical formula due to the departure of a main character.

“As far as changing it up, there were some differences that sort of mixed up the formula,” Somerhalder told Variety. The new formula has introduced the flashforward scenes, new dynamics and interesting characters like the Heretics, vampire Julian (Todd Lasance) and a mysterious female vampire hunter.

In the next episode of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7, Damon and his brother Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) are still determined to take down Julian, but the Salvatore brothers will be setting in motion a risky plan to get rid of a new threat that Julian created. The upcoming episode will also focus on the sudden pregnancy of Caroline Forbes (Candice King) with the twin babies of Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis).

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 is scheduled to return from a short break with episode 8 titled “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me” on Thursday night, Dec. 3. The brand new episode will air at 8/7c on the CW Network.
