American-British television drama series “Outlander” is more in news these days owing to the off-screen romance between its actors, Sam Heughan (Jamie) and Caitriona Balfe (Claire). However, the actors have now stepped out to rubbish the dating rumours.

"We're not together. It's funny. We've always said from the get go that we're incredibly great friends. And to have that friendship and that closeness and to be able to get along as we do on set, it's great that we're able to get along that well. We're not together,” Caitriona cleared the air during an interview to Esc News.

Caitriona is well aware of the fact that this may break the hearts of the fans and avid followers of the show and has apologised for bringing people out of the illusion.

Interestingly, Sam was quick to intervene Caitriona during the interview.

"Yeah, we could try," Sam exclaimed. No, I think it's strange, isn't it? Because I think people buy into the show and us saying it's not real, they feel like they've been duped. It's like, ‘You acted it. You lied to us!' And I'm like, ‘Well, sorry!'," He added.

The stars were amidst an interview to promote the show’s return in April when they dismissed the relationship rumours. As the season one of “Outlander” came to an end last year, the binge-watchers of the show were left with an impression of the outstanding on-screen chemistry between the actors and their power-packed performance perhaps fuelled the rumours.

The second season of “Outlander” will air in April, and is expected to unfold several other aspects of the relationship between Jamie and Claire.

The “Outlander” stars showed up at the Golden Globes Awards in their most stylish avatars. Caitriona appeared every inch a diva in an Alexander McQueen dress, Fred Leighton jewelry, a Christian Louboutin handbag, and Roger Vivier shoes. The “Outlander” actress has been nominated for the Best Actress in a TV Series and was accompanied by her on-screen partner Sam. He donned a Dunhill tux teamed up with a Piaget timepiece, Ileana Makri cufflinks, and Louis Leeman shoes.
