“Outlander” season 4 will fundamentally shift the story to the American colonies. While the finale of season 3 hinted at what fans can expect next, there are still plenty of surprises in store. The following article contains spoilers from episodes that have already aired.

Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) were the only ones to land in America in the finale. So in the season 4 premiere, they may get to meet or attempt to find out about the others. They would be particularly interested in knowing what happened to the newly married couple Fergus (César Domboy) and Marsali (Lauren Lyle), as well as Young Ian (John Bell).

Since all the new characters are an important part of Jamie's story, it is highly unlikely that the producers will kill off any of them in a storm. Readers who have read the book “Drums of Autumn” by Diana Gabaldon will know better about what happens next to these characters.

As far as Jamie and Claire are concerned, they have been on the run almost their entire life. They will finally get a place they can call home and start building a life together in America.

Jamie has already given away Lallybroch. There is a constant threat to his life from the agents of the crown. While the Scotsman tries to build a new life and live the American Dream, Fergus, Marsali and Young Ian will have to decide whether they want to stay or go back to Scotland.

In a way, “Outlander” season 4 may have the same format as season 3. While Jamie and Claire will live their lives in America, there’s another couple in the same country, but in a different time period. Fans haven’t seen Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Roger (Richard Rankin) for a while, so bringing them on early in the show will help achieve a better focus on their storyline.
