Rebekah Mikaelson (Claire Holt) will be rescued in the mid-season finale episode of “The Originals” Season 3. However, the synopsis and promo video of “The Originals” Season 3, episode 9 titled “Savior” tease that the Mikaelson family will have a problem because there is something different about Rebekah when she returns.

Spoiler Alert: This feature contains major “The Originals” Season 2 spoilers.

The mid-season finale episode’s promo video teased that Elijah Mikaelson (Daniel Gillies) will be the one to bring Rebekah back home in New Orleans. Also seen in the promo video is a standoff between Rebekah and Hayley Marshall-Kenner (Phoebe Tonkin).

Elijah interrupts the fight and asks Rebekah to control herself. The change in Rebekah’s behaviour has something to do with the mark on her arm and the dagger used on her, which Freya Mikaelson (Riley Voelkel) believes to be a cursed object.

The synopsis of “The Originals” Season 3, episode 9 titled “Savior” in a Hollywood Hills report teases that vampires and witches will be at odds with each other. Freya, a powerful witch, will find herself a new target - The Strix, a powerful organization of ancient vampires.

Because of the brewing sirelines war, the first sired vampires Lucien Castle (Andrew Lees) and Tristan de Martel (Oliver Ackland) want to activate a cursed object that produces an unbreakable boundary so the Originals can be locked away forever. Lucien and Tristan need a powerful witch to perform the spell and it appears that Freya can do it since Davina Claire (Danielle Campbell), their initial witch target, is no longer the Regent of the witch coven in New Orleans.

The other vampire-witch conflict storyline in the mid-season finale will involve “The Originals” characters Marcel Gerard (Charles Michael Davis) and Vincent Griffith (Yusuf Gatewood). The mid-season finale episode’s synopsis teased that Vincent is going to think again on his decision to stay out of witch business following a confrontation with Marcel.

As for Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan), the Original hybrid will continue to watch over Cami O’Connell (Leah Pipes) following the unpleasant encounter with his jealous ex-girlfriend Aurora de Martel (Rebecca Breeds) in the previous episode titled “The Other Girl in New Orleans.” The synopsis of “The Originals” Season 3, episode 9 also revealed that Cami will try to help Detective Kinney (Jason Dohring), whose life is now spiraling out of control because of Lucien’s compulsion in “The Originals” Season 3, episode 6 titled “Beautiful Mistake.”

Lastly, there will be an unexpected surprise in the mid-season finale as Hayley attempts to celebrate Christmas peacefully with Jackson Kenner (Nathan Parsons) and baby Hope. “The Originals” Season 3, episode 9 titled “Savior” is scheduled to air on Thursday night, Dec. 10, at 9/8c on the CW Network.
