The past two episodes of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 have shown just how explosive things can get for beloved characters in Mystic Falls. However, the drama will continue to build up in the vampire series, especially with hints of a “Steroline” love triangle.

“The Vampire Diaries” stars Paul Wesley and Candice King sat down with Entertainment Weekly to talk about the relationship between their characters Stefan Salvatore and Caroline Forbes. In the interview, King mentioned that her character Caroline “is all in with Stefan” in Season 7 of the CW show. However, it won’t be smooth sailing for the “Steroline” couple, given that “everything else... seems to be making a mess of their relationship,” shared the actress.

“There’s a reason why it took them seven seasons to become a relationship,” she explained. “All those things still exist in [their] world and they’re realising that just because they say out loud that they have feelings for each other, it doesn’t mean that... the universe is allowing them to be with one another.”

In episode 2 of “The Vampire Diaries,” it was hinted that Wesley’s character Stefan and new heretic Valerie (Elizabeth Blackmore) had a romantic relationship in the past. This will affect the long awaited romance between characters Stefan and Caroline. King also told Entertainment Weekly that it’s “going to be very easy for Valerie to get under Caroline’s skin.”

Wesley also commented that his character will “get saucy with the ladies” and teased that when a “new girl comes in… the girls will be reacting crazy.” In the same interview, the actor even joked that the situation is enough to “drive a man crazy.”

Meanwhile, episode 2 of “The Vampire Diaries” revealed that King’s Caroline will end up engaged, E!News reported. In a flash forward scene, Caroline is seen wearing an engagement ring but the fiance is not Stefan. The quick peek at the future also showed that King’s character doesn’t even want to hear anything about Stefan.

Fans will have to watch “The Vampire Diaries” to see just how things will progress between the “Steroline” couple.

Season 7 of “The Vampire Diaries” airs every Thursday on CW in the U.S. and Friday’s in Australia on Fox8.
