Candice Accola-King spills details about her character Caroline in season 7 of “The Vampire Diaries” and the possible romantic future for the "Steroline" couple.

At the end of season 6 of “The Vampire Diaries,” Accola-King’s Caroline told Stefan, played by Paul Wesley, that she needs time for herself and to grieve the loss of her mother. This broke the hearts of “Steroline” fans who were rooting for the two characters to stay romantically together. However, in a recent interview with People magazine, the actress teased that there may be a chance for Caroline and Stefan to end up together.

"I think there's definitely a chance for Caroline and Stefan to be end game,” Accola-King said. “But you still never know.”

The actress added, “I think that's what's been really an exciting world for the writers and also a great perspective for the actors, is that it's this kind of supernatural magical world where people can die and there's other sides and there's witches and vampires and this idea of eternal life that can easily be taken away, and anything really is possible. The idea of anything being concrete just goes away."

Accola-King also shared that the first episode of “The Vampire Diaries” season 7 showed just how conflicted Caroline was over her decision to keep Stefan at arms’ length. “Being around Stefan makes it very hard for her to stay focused on her self-righteous journey through grief," she explained. "We're going to see her decide if she's willing to be comforted or if she just is kind of in denial of what she really needs. That's going to be her biggest struggle throughout the first episode."

Meanwhile, in an interview with MTV, the actress commented on how excited she is to see the “Steroline” relationship progress to something more than friends this season 7. Accola-King also said that she loved seeing Caroline and Stefan together.

“In Season 2, when Stefan was teaching Caroline how to hunt for bunnies, that was the first time I realised how funny they were together,” she added. “And I love slow-burning relationships on TV series, just as a television viewer. Things definitely intensify for them this season.”

Season 7 of “The Vampire Diaries” airs every Thursday in the U.S. on CW and Fridays in Australia on Fox8.
