The struggles that come with doing a good deed seem to be the central theme of the upcoming episode of “Neighbours.” On Wednesday, Jack Callahan (Andrew Morley) once again finds himself in an inner conflict, this time involving Stephanie Scully (Carla Bonner). After realising that the stalker is after her, he wants to alert Steph, but he’s bound by a priest’s duty not to disclose anything that they learn from a confession.

Meanwhile, Ben Ian Kirk (Felix Mallard) hits a wall when Cooper Knights’ (Charlie Hannaford) denies assaulting her son. Ben hopes the truth comes out straight from Cooper’s mouth and save Gary (Damien Richardson) from going back to jail. Other “Neighbours” cast members who will also appear on the Aug.31 episode include Xanthe Canning (Lilly Van Der Meer), Sheila Canning (Colette Mann), Mark Brennan (Scott McGregor), Charlie Hoyland (Alexander McGuire), Sonya Rebecchi (Eve Morey), Karl (Alan Fletcher) and Tyler Brennan (Travis Burns).

“Neighbours” also stars Paige Smith (Olympia Valance), Terese Willis (Rebekah Elmaloglou), Amy Williams (Zoe Cramond), Piper Willis (Mavournee Hazel), Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis), Ned (Ben Hall), Brad Willis (Kip Gamblin), Lauren Turner (Kate Kendall), Aaron Brennan (Matt Wilson), Madison Robinson (Sarah Ellen), Jarrod “Toadie” Rebecchi (Ryan Moloney), Susan Kennedy (Jackie Woodburne) and Jimmy Williams (Darcy Tadich).

“Neighbours” posted a sneak peek of Monday’s episode on its Facebook page. In the clip, Steph is back at the Rebecchi's home. She's talking to someone on the phone while the stalker watches her. Steph is glad that the Clive incident is over and reckons everything's safe again. She feels sorry for the guy, though, saying, "It's sad that someone's life is so empty that they're going to fixate on others." It's clear that Steph faces grave danger -- and she's not even aware of it.

Digital Spy reports that Jack wants to warn Steph about the stalker, but doing that would break the sacred seal of confession. Meanwhile, Steph and Mark get into an argument when she refuses to move in with him. She goes home and finds herself alone, not knowing that the stalker is there, ready to attack anytime.

Ben urges Karl to make Dr Knights come clean about beating up her son. However, she denies the claim, leaving Ben clueless on what to do next. He then resorts to another tactic – he compels Cooper to tell the truth to save himself and Gary.

“Neighbours” recap

On Tuesday, Gary insisted that he didn’t even touch Cooper, but Mark said Gary made threats and that he should never have gotten close enough to hear what the teenagers were talking about. Mark understood Gary’s point, but he breached the intervention order the moment he approached Cooper. Mark had no choice but to report the criminal offence to Gary’s parole officer. Gary panicked with the possibility of going back to jail.

Sheila found the USB that was sent over by Terese. She immediately went to the police station to show the content to Mark. While he said the evidence would be sufficient for Xanthe to file a case, it would not help Gary. At Harold’s Xanthe confided in on Ben about her fear, that her dad would go back to prison. Later, Alison let it slip that Cooper’s mum is not exactly an ideal parent. Ben became suspicious that Dr Knights was the one who beat up Cooper, and shared his theory with Karl. When Ben pressed Alison for more details, she refused to be involved, especially after realising that he still had feelings for Xanthe.

Meanwhile, Steph worried that the Brennan brothers might not be a good influence to Charlie. Hanging out with Aaron and Tyler seemed to spark Charlie’s rowdy behaviour, much to Steph’s dismay. Steph found out later that Clive was hospitalised, and thinking that he’s the one terrorising the neighbourhood, she assumed there’s no need to stay at Mark’s anymore. However, Mark had another idea – he offered Steph and Charlie to move in permanently. Charlie was ecstatic but Steph was rendered speechless.

Later, the stalker went to the motel and snooped around. When he heard someone coming, he hid behind the supplies closet and knocked the folded linen off the table. Steph assumed Charlie played with the linen, which is why they’re on the floor. He denied it, but Steph wasn’t buying it.

Paige was enjoying the fact that Jack was keeping her close. Unaware of Jack’s real agenda, she believed there still might be a chance for them in the near future. Later, Jack heard a man crying inside the confessional booth. However, before he could press him for more information, the man got away again. The stalker returned that same day, and revealed that while he had done nothing yet, the urge to hurt “her” is getting stronger. “She’s going to pay for everything she’s done,” he said. The stalker also admitted that he saw “her” with Jack earlier, making the priest more convinced that the stalker is after Paige. However, when Jack mentioned her name, the stalker seemed to be oblivious about who she was. It dawned on Jack that the stalker is targeting someone else.

Towards the end of the episode, Steph was seen taking a walk while the stalker was watching her closely. It wasn’t long enough before he got up from the bench he was sitting on, put on his hood and started following Steph.
