Microsoft's latest budget-friendly phone, the Lumia 535, has recently been released in November, while the now-famous Lumia 730, under Nokia brand name, was released in September. Readers who are interested in the Nokia Lumia 730 or the Microsoft Lumia 535 should check out this comparison between the two.

Display, Design And Size

The Lumia 535 features a 5.0-inch IPS LCD display bundled with a modest screen resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, while the Lumia 730 comes with a relatively smaller 4.7-inch OLED display. However, the Nokia handset's resolution is slightly better at 720 x 1,280 pixels. Hence, the pixel densities of Nokia and Microsoft devices translate to 316 ppi and 220 ppi, respectively.

When it comes to design, the Lumia 535 sports a plastic chassis that is synonymous to almost all the Lumia handsets released thus far. Additionally, Microsoft is offering six bright colour choices with shiny exteriors. In any case, the over-the-top glossy plastic look of the device may not be appreciated by many buyers, as customers are shifting to handsets with metal-like exteriors. Nevertheless, on a positive note, the phone provides good friction and it is comfortable on the hands. On the flipside, the plastic exterior gives an inexpensive look to the handset, notes Forbes.

Meanwhile, the Lumia 730 is a carbon copy of its predecessor Lumia 720 in many ways. Specifically, the polycarbonate chassis and the angular corners are identical in both the phones. Despite the fact that the Lumia 730 is a wallet-friendly phone, Nokia has utilised good-quality materials to build the device. Just like the Lumia 535, this phone also provides good grip and therefore it is comfortable on the hands. Also, the back shell is alterable and many of the optional panels come with bright, colourful and glossy finish. However, potential buyers should note that the dedicated camera button on the smartphone is missing in the Nokia Lumia 730. This means, only the power and volume buttons can be seen on the side of the handset, observes Know Your Mobile.

Speaking of size, the thickness and weight of the Lumia 730 and the Lumia 535 are (0.34-inch and 130 g) and (0.35-inch and 146 g), respectively. Needless to say, the Lumia 730 is both lighter and thinner than the Lumia 535.

Hardware, Software And Memory

Nokia Lumia 730 is powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400) Cortex-A7 processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz. Meanwhile, the Lumia 535 is powered by a relatively inferior quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 200) Cortex-A7 processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz. Despite the underlying difference, both the devices are backed by 1 GB of RAM. With reference to the operating system, both the handsets run on Windows Phone 8.1 OS.

As far as the memory goes, both wallet-friendly smartphones come equipped with 8 GB of internal storage capacity. In addition, both the phones support microSD card for expansion up to a commendable 128 GB.

Camera And Battery

While the Lumia 730 sports a 6.7 MP primary camera with the note-worthy Carl Zeiss lens and LED flash, the Lumia 535 houses a 5 MP unit with LED flash. Additionally, both the devices feature a respectable 5 MP shooter as the secondary camera. Moreover, the sensor of Lumia 730 can support face detection and panorama, while the Lumia 535 doesn't.

Moving on to the battery specification, the Lumia 730 is backed by a Li-Ion 2200 mAh unit, whereas the Lumia 535 comes equipped with a Li-Ion 1,905 mAh unit. Notably, the Lumia 730 can provide up to 17 hours of 3G talk time and 600 hours of stand-by time. The Lumia 535, on the other hand, offers up to 13 hours of 3G talk time and 553 hours of stand-by time.
