Classic Cyclops in "Marvel Puzzle Quest". Press release from D3

“Marvel Puzzle Quest” will be celebrating its second birthday this weekend and what better way to do that than with new characters and an epic boss fight. Developer D3 has announced that there will be new events in the game, one of which involves a boss fight with a literal eater of worlds: Galactus.

Staring on Oct. 8, fans will have to assemble their teams and take on Galactus. The battle will be similar to the one against Ultron, where players will have to work together to chip away at the entity’s health and eventually beat the classic villain into submission.

Thankfully, players will be able to recruit some help for this fight. The official press release from D3 has confirmed that there will be three new characters that fans can recruit into the fight: Red Hulk, 90’s Cyclops and Devil Dinosaur.

The current rankings for the characters are unknown, so its unsure if any of the three characters will be part of the brand new 5-star tier that was recently released. Ironically, the first 5-star character for “Marvel Puzzle Quest” is the Silver Surfer, who was the “Herald” of Galactus.

According to Polygon, players who don’t plan on participating in the Galactus fight will still be rewarded with some nice anniversary gifts. Players will be given special recruit tokens for free and anniversary packs will be discounted.

It’s interesting to see Devil Dinosaur in the game. The character is going to have a new ongoing series with a new “Inhuman” character called “Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” from the same creative team of the “Rocket Girl” series.

90’s Cyclops has also made appearances in the X-Men 92 comic that ties in to “Secret Wars.” It was recently announced that X-Men 92 would be promoted to an ongoing series, though it appears that Cyclops and Jean Grey will be leaving the group before the new #1 hits stores.

Red Hulk hasn’t made many appearances in the recent comics and was last seen in the now cancelled Thunderbolts series. However, there are rumours that the character will be appearing in “Capain America: Civil War.”

“Marvel Puzzle Quest” is currently available for download on iOS and Android devices. It is a free download, but mobile users can use real money to purchase in-game items for specific characters and power-ups.
