In the upcoming film “X-Men: Apocalypse”, the costume of Oscar Isaac’s Apocalypse is unusual and strikingly different from earlier versions. This is because of the cosmic nature of the storyline, according to writer and producer Simon Kinberg.

When MTV asked Kinsberg about Apocalypse’s peculiar costume, he said, “We felt like the movies were ready for something that was slightly more, let’s say, cosmic. Once we made the decision for Apocalypse to be the villain at the center of the movie, we wanted to be true to the comics, which are sort of, like you, say, not costume, but it’s not just a guy in a helmet. It is more cosmic.”

Kinberg also said that the “X-Men” films have expanded way beyond their roots when it comes to science fiction genre. With each film, the franchise is inching closer to the extraterrestrial universe, and this is why Isaac’s costume is striking.

In the pictures released by Entertainment Weekly, Isaac, whose face is painted in purple and his eyes are red, can be seen wearing a metallic costume.

Meanwhile, director Bryan Singer has called the costume “futuristic,” adding that it is closer to his comic book counterpart, Screen Crush reported. The costume has reportedly been made using digital and practical effects.

The Apocalypse of “X-Men: Apocalypse” is an immortal mutant, the God on the earth -- in the comics, he is also called En Sabah Nur. And he is the first creature to be born with a mutant X- gene and uses celestial technology to enter periods of suspended animation. He comes to life when he wants to test the civilisation.

The first glimpse of Apocalypse was seen in the post-credit scenes of “X-Men: Apocalypse: Days of Future Past,” where he was shown building pyramids while people were worshipping him.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” also stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Olivia Munn, Evan Peters, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Lucas Till, Josh Helman, Lana Condor and Ben Hardy. It opens May 27, 2016.
