'Kingdom Hearts 3' update: Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars worlds will make it to the final cut
It has been over a decade since fans of the “Kingdom Hearts” franchise have been able to get their hands on a full numbered sequel. The next chapter, “Kingdom Hearts 3,” is estimated to arrive in 2017, some four years after Square Enix and Disney announced the same at E3 2013.
At this point, neither Square Enix nor Disney have made an official announcement regarding the release date of “Kingdom Hearts 3.” However, as VG247 has reported, it would be logical to release the title within 2017. The game developer just successfully released “Final Fantasy XV” and the prologue to KH3,”Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue,” is expected to arrive before the end of the month.

With more than 10 years since “Kingdom Hearts 2,” the upcoming universe of “Kingdom Hearts 3” is sure to be an exciting one, which will be filled with some of Disney’s newest and most successful franchises. Not only has Disney released new animated features, but it has also acquired some notable franchises that will make the upcoming title grander than it has been since its debut. These acquisitions, as noted by the publication, include Marvel and Star Wars.
There has been talk about a world for Iron Man, Thor, Luke Skywalker and Indiana Jones -- but nothing has been confirmed by Square Enix yet. Moreover, it is possible that the franchise will finally introduce a Pixar world. But while it has taken the game developer some time to unveil vital details, fans can rest on the promise that the game developer will deliver an exciting RPG mashup with Disney.
There are endless possibilities that have not been confirmed, but there are two titles that have been officially announced for “Kingdom Hearts 3.” That is there will be a world for “Tangled” and another for “Big Hero 6.” It is not clear what these worlds will offer for Sora, Donald and Goofy, but new enemies are expected to be part of the lineup.
“Kingdom Hearts 3” will be the next chapter in one of the most beloved game franchises of its generation. ”Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue,” meanwhile, is scheduled for launch on Jan. 24 and can be preordered here.
