The HTC 10 (aka HTC One M10), the latest flagship from the Taiwanese tech giant is being praised by the critics for its design, performance and camera prowess. One of its strongest rivals in the Nexus 6P that carries a cheaper price tag and offers stock Android experience.

Design and Display

HTC One M10 and Huawei Nexus 6P both sport full metallic chassis. The HTC 10 that measures 145.9 x 71.9 mm whereas the Nexus 6P measures 159.3 x 77.8 mm. The thickness of HTC 10 is 9 mm whereas the Nexus 6P has a slimmer design as it measures 7.3 mm in thickness. The HTC 10 comes in four colours namely, gray, gold, silver and red. On the other hand, the Nexus 6P can be availed in three colours like aluminum, graphite and frost.

The HTC One M10 houses a 5.2-inch Super LCD 5 technology driven screen. It is the first smartphone in the HTC One series to feature a Quad HD resolution display. The Google Nexus 6P has a 5.7-inch display that also supports Quad HD resolution.

Chipset, RAM and Storage

The Snapdragon 820 SoC along with 4 GB of RAM is present under the hood of HTC 10. The Nexus 6P is powered by the older Snapdragon 810 SoC and 3 GB of RAM. Both the phones come in 32 GB and 64 GB storage options. The HTC 10 features a microSD card slot. The Nexus 6P lacks a memory card slot but it is available in another inbuilt storage version of 128 GB.

Camera and Software

HTC 10 has a OIS enabled 12 MP rear camera. The front-facing camera of 5 MP also features OIS. On the other side, the Nexus 6P’s 12 MP lacks OIS. The rear cameras of both the phones share common features like laser autofocus and dual-LED flash. The Nexus 6P has an 8 MP selfie snapper.

The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS is overlaid with HTC Sense 8 UI on HTC 10. However, the Nexus 6P delivers stock Android experience.

Other Features and Battery

The HTC 10 has a Cat. 9 LTE modem whereas the Nexus 6P has a Cat. 6 LTE modem. Both phones are equipped features like dual front-facing speakers, fingerprint readers and USB Type-C slots. The HTC One M10 has a 3000 mAh battery whereas the Nexus 6P is blessed with a huge battery of 3450 mAh capacity.

Release Date and Price

The Nexus 6P was launched in October last year. Its 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB models are now available for $449 (AU$575), $499 (AU$639) and $599 (AU$767), respectively. The HTC 10 was launched earlier in this month. The pricing of the carrier variants of HTC 10 are still under the wraps. However, the unlocked model HTC is priced at $699 (AU$895).
