HTC One M10 (aka HTC 10) has been finally launch after months of leaks from varied sources. It has come out to rival against Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5. Here is a comparison of specifications, features and price between the three flagships.

Design and Display

The HTC One M10 sports a glass panel on its front side that is fitted on the full metallic chassis of the smartphone. It measures 145.9 x 71.9 x 9 mm and weighs 161 grams. It is equipped with a 5.2-inch Super LCD 5 technology driven Quad HD display that offers a pixel density of 565 ppi. It is available in colours like gray, gold, silver and red.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 has a metallic frame sandwiched between glass panels on its front and rear sides. It sports an IP68 certified chassis that protects the device from dust and water damage. It measures 142 x 69.6 x 7.9 mm and weighs 152 grams. Its 5.1-inch Super AMOLED Quad HD screen delivers a pixel count of 577 ppi. The Galaxy S7 can be availed in varied colours such as black, white, gold and silver.

LG G5 also wears a metal unibody chassis with a unique modular design that enables to attach various kinds of accessories such as VR headset, 360-degree camera and more. Its dimensions are 149.4 x 73.9 x 7.7 mm and its weight is 159 grams. It features a 5.3-inch Quad HD resolution supporting IPS LCD screen that produces a pixel count of 554 ppi. It comes in colour choices of sliver, titan, gold and pink

Chipset, RAM and Storage

All the three smartphones are powered with Snapdragon 820 SoC and 4 GB of RAM. However, the Galaxy S7 is also available in another variant that is powered by Exynos 8890 chipset and 4 GB of RAM.

Both HTC One M10 and Samsung Galaxy S7 come in storage versions of 32 GB and 64 GB. The LG G5 is available in a single storage edition of 32 GB. These smartphones also feature a microSD slot that supports up to 200 GB of microSD card.

Camera, Software and Unique Features

The HTC 10 has a f/1.8 aperture 12 MP rear camera whereas the Galaxy S7 has a f/1.7 aperture 12 MP camera. The LG G5 has a dual-camera system that includes a 16 MP (f/1.8) and an 8 MP (f/2.4) camera. The rear cameras of HTC 10 and LG G5 support OIS and laser autofocus. The Galaxy S7’s camera lacks laser autofocus, but is enabled with features like OIS and phase detection autofocus.

HTC 10 is the only smartphone among the three features a dual-LED flash for its rear camera. The front-facing 5 MP camera of HTC 10 supports OIS. The Galaxy S7 has a 5 MP selfie camera whereas the LG G5 features an 8 MP frontal camera.

The Android Marshmallow OS is overlaid with Sense 8 UI on HTC One M10. The Galaxy S7’s Android M Is customized with TouchWiz UI whereas the LG has an Optimus UX 5.0 UI laid on top of Android M.

The 2016 HTC, Samsung and LG flagships are equipped with fingerprint readers. The HTC One M10 is fitted with dual speakers on its front side. The Galaxy S7 comes with unique features like sensors for heart rate and SpO2. It also carries support for wireless charging, a feature that is unavailable on LG G5 and HTC One M10. The Galaxy S7 lacks a USB Type-C, but LG and HTC flagships features it. The LG G5 carries support for USB OTG.

Battery and Price

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and HTC 10 feature 3000 mAh non-removable batteries. However, the LG G5 has a 2800 mAh removable battery. The unlocked HTC 10 is priced at $700 (AU$915). The full retail price of Samsung Galaxy S7 is around $670 (AU$875) to $700 (AU$915) across different carriers of the U.S. The U.S. carriers are selling the LG G5 with a full retail price of $680 (AU$888) to $700 (AU$915).
