Terror teen Farhad Jabar is believed to have gotten his gun from a Middle Eastern crime gang. Police suspect the gun was handed over to the Year 10 student at the Parramatta mosque.

According to a report by The Daily Telegraph, the source of the gun had been established early in the investigation, although the paper was asked not to release details until after yesterday's raids.

The .38 Smith and Wesson was passed on to a radical by a Middle Eastern crime figure who was not aware of the purpose of the weapon, according to police. The gun eventually came to Farhad at the mosque. The 15-year-old killed police veteran Curtis Cheng outside Parramatta Police Headquarters hours after receiving the weapon on Friday.

The NSW government is auditing an Islamic prayer group that Farhad regularly attended, The Daily Telegraph reported. NSW Education Minister Adrian Piccoli's spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday that the Muslim prayer group used to be held every Friday at Arthur Phillip High School, the one Farhad attended. The group is under review after there were allegations of preaching extremism.

Another student at Arthur Phillip High School has been found to be a supporter of Islamic State. He earlier yelled abuse outside a Christian school and waved an ISIS flag from a car window. The boy who cannot be named has been ordered to attend a youth offenders conference.

NSW Premier Mike Baird has said the government needs to "do more" about programs in Islamic schools and communities. He called the murder of the policeman as a "horrendous crime."

"The important point is the police are doing everything they possibly can to focus in on these threats," AFR quoted Baird as talking about other potential attacks. "The people of NSW that our schools are safe."

More than 200 police started raids in Merrylands, Marsfield, Guildford and Wentworthville at 6 a.m. on Wednesday. Detectives has also started checking social media accounts of students at Arthur Phillip and other schools students.
