Islamic State supporters have hailed Farhad Khalil Mohammad Jabar after the 15-year-old carried out a deadly attack on NSW police headquarters on behalf of the extremist organisation.

Abu Layth At-Tamimi calls himself “a poor slave of Allah who loves J*had” praised Farhad’s efforts. “Farhad Mohammed a knight of this Ummah carried out a mission to honour his deen (religion),” he posted on Twitter. He has also posted that such people “can't even wait to reach 15 so they can train and be thrown amongst the men in defence of His deen.”

Browsing (@PreeGyptian) claimed on Twitter that Farhad’s family had been raided several times, his mother humiliated and his passport seized. Farhad shot 58-year-old police force veteran Curtis Cheng outside the NSW Police headquarters on Friday and was killed by police soon after.

NSW police have started questioning classmates of the Year 10 student of Arthur Phillip High School in Parramatta. Another student from the same school has been arrested over posts on social networks. According to police, they had a talk with the teenager regarding to social media post while he was going to school. He was arrested after he had allegedly intimidated and threatened the officers, the ABC reported.

Australian counterterrorism authorities have linked Farhad with a British radical associated with ISIS. According to reports, authorities have started enquiring about other members of the same family. Farhad’s elder sister apparently left for Turkey the day before he had shot the police accountant. According to police, she may have travelled to Iraq or Syria.

NSW Premier Mike Baird said officers were working on tracking her down. “Those people that have undertaken any inciting or any encouragement to undertake such a horrendous crime, I can assure you we will track them down and they will face the full consequences of the law,” AAP quoted Baird.
