Sir Elton John has ended his five-month long feud with Italian designers Dolce & Gabbana. The 68-year-old celebrity took to Instagram to say that he has forgiven the designer duo, who has apologized for the now infamous “IVF children” comments. He said that he looked forward to wearing the label again, now that “the slate is clean.”

“Big thanks to Stefano and Domenico for the apology over their comments about IVF children … We look forward (to) wearing their designs once again,” John wrote on his Instagram post. He shared the news with his 193,000 followers, Hello reported.

The picture shows the iconic logo of the Italian fashion house. John, who is a huge fan of the label, added that he loved Italy. He used the hashtag “share the love,” announcing the end of his boycott of the brand.

Designer Domenico Dolce apologised in a Vogue interview. He said that he was sorry and did not intent to offend anyone. He added that he talked about it with Gabbana and did some soul-searching, and realised that his comments were “inappropriate.”

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, who was a couple for 23 years before breaking up in 2005, voiced their strong opinion against same-sex marriage. The designer opposed gay adoptions and rented uterus. They made these comments in an interview with Italy’s Panorama magazine in March.

The feud began when John was angered by the designers’ comments on same-sex families and the use of fertility treatment. He has two sons with husband David Furnish, Zachary, four, and Elijah, two, both born through IVF with a surrogate. The singer called for a boycott of the designers.

He rebuked their views in an Instagram post, where he shared a photo of the designers. In his strongly worded post, John said that the designers had no right to call his “beautiful children as synthetic.” He added that they had no business to point their judgemental little fingers at IVF, which he called a miracle.

John said that IVF had given a chance to thousands of loving people, both gay and straight, to fulfil their dreams of having children. Celebrities like Martina Navratilova, Madonna, Ricky Martin, Victoria Beckham, and a host of others came out in support of the British singer.
