Someone stole Elton John’s heart-shaped glasses from the Memphis Museum. The executive director of the museum said the glasses are worth around $2,000.

Dallas News reports that legendary icon Elton John’s heart-shaped glasses disappeared from a display case at Memphis Museum. On Wednesday, the police said the glasses were stolen from the Memphis Rock n’ Soul Museum. The officers relayed that their help were solicited on Tuesday night when museum staff noticed the glasses were not on the case. The officials reported that remarkably, the display case housing the glasses was not even damaged. Police said this is interesting because the museum manager said a set of specialised tools might have been used for the glasses to be taken away without making sustainable damage to the case. An officer has already assessed the case for fingerprints that might have been left by the robber. Unfortunately, surveillance cameras around the museum were also not able to help with the case.

As investigation is currently undergoing with regard the alleged theft, no arrests are still being made. John’s signature style — flamboyant and loud, can be seen on the design of the stolen glasses. The said shades was once frequently sported by the singer as he performed hit songs such as "Saturday Night's Alright," "Daniel," "Philadelphia Freedom," "Crocodile Rock," and "Tiny Dancer."

Known for his fun music and signature styles, Elton is now more involved with LGBT causes. After getting into a row with the fashion designers Dolce and Gabbana for their views on IVF babies and same-sex parenting, Rolling Stone reports that Elton recently released a joint statement with Michael Stipe calling for attention on the state of transgender prisoners in Georgia. "Transgender women in male prisons have an equal right to protection from violence and abuse in prison, yet they continue to face horrific injustices," they wrote.

In the statement, they also lauded the U.S. Department of Justice for providing the needed support of inmate Ashley Diamond to receive hormone treatment while incarcerated. They also highlighted horrific reports of prison staff raping these transgender women. They claimed that transgender women are “13 times more likely to be sexually assaulted” while in prison but they cannot report it for fear of the possible repercussions.
