The promo pictures of “Da Vinci’s Demons” from episode 1 to 6 have been released. The pictures tease some of the scenes from these episodes and show some of the major characters of the show. [Spoiler alert]

The previous season of the show ended with Leonardo Da Vinci (Tom Riley) devising a plan to counter the impending invasion by the Ottoman Empire. He had modified the canons to increase both the range and the accuracy and stop the invading fleet of ships.

Pictures from the first six episodes of the TV series posted on SpoilerTV show Leonardo preparing to fire the canons. The previous season ended in a cliff-hanger with the protagonist discovering that his mother was onboard the ship he was aiming at.

Lorenzo Medici (Elliot Cowan), Zoroaster (Gregg Chillin) and Leonardo’s father Piero (David Schofield) are also with the protagonist when he is preparing to fire at the enemy and the characters can be seen in the pictures from the first episode. Some of the other characters seen in the pictures include Lucrezia Donati (Laura Haddock), Girolamo Riario (Blake Ritson and Pope Sixtus IV (James Faulkner).

The trailer video of “Da Vinci’s Demons” Season 3 released by Starz on YouTube shows that the plan to stop the invasion may have failed. The trailer shows Leonardo lying in a heap of rubble and the Ottoman soldiers fighting their way into the city.

The Ottoman Empire has the weapons that Leonardo had designed, including a tank with canons onboard. The real Pope Sixtus IV, who has been imprisoned by his brother, tells Riario to call for a holy war.

In a previous interview with EntertainmentWeekly, executive producer John Shiban said that they are using the Ottoman invasion as a “way to bring everybody together.” The producer said that with Leonardo’s “ideas and his brain basically pillaged” by the enemy and the character will now have to fight himself. Leonardo is seen approaching the Pope in the trailer to seek his help to defeat the enemy.

Riley said in the same interview that “Da Vinci’s Demons” Season 3 has been the “hardest yet” for both his character as well as for him personally. The actor said that the next season will reveal details about the Book of Leaves and explained that the show will not only reveal what the book is, but also why it is so important.
