You know a new season of hit CBS crime drama "Criminal Minds" is back because of two things. The first is the creepy opening of where a stubborn-looking boy stumbles upon a decaying mutilated body in the middle of nowhere and the fact that less than three minutes into the show, new cast member Jennifer Love Hewitt takes the main stage.

She goes to show just why she deserves the new slot within the BAU team, and a contending replacement for fan-loved Alex Blake (Jeanne Tripplehorn) who had exited the show in a startling finale last season. Playing the role of Kate Callahan, Love Hewitt's character immediately blends well into the team.

The hunted unsub this time around is a man who appears to be getting his sexual satisfaction in amputating his victims. And easily, an image of a deranged maniac comes to mind.

But as fans following "Criminal Minds" Season 10 spoilers, the case turned another alley of interesting when Kerr Smith, the known unsub, appears to be your regular family man and father. Even worse, he opens an old chest box in his office to take out a frozen amputated leg.

As the BAU team investigate deeper into the unsub, Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) and Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore) realize that the unsub may be smarter than your average butchering maniac when they saw the clean-cut decapitation of victims and the fact that he even removed breast implants to avoid having himself traced via the serial number.

On the other side, David Rossi (Joe Mantegna) and Callahan find clues in the crime scene, and were able to track down the unsub in the act of having three amputated legs in the car that he was driving. During the questioning, however, the team stumbles upon another interesting fact. The unsub may have had the limbs, but he merely bought them from someone instead of killing the victims himself.

It turns out that another unsub is the one who is working behind the scenes, and he already has another victim on the chopping table. After chasing down the unsub and being able to apprehend him, things don't seem to be wrapped up neatly-especially considering that it is the premiere of "Criminal Minds."

But it's Callahan who manages to voice out fans' suspicions-it's pretty obvious that she thinks there's something more going on with the case, even after she is welcomed into the team. This is proven in the last few seconds when another woman is abducted and various men are bidding online for the new victim.

There are a few interesting other things that may develop later on in "Criminal Minds" Season 10. Early into the premiere episode the JJ mentioned that Hotch had talked to Prentiss into coming back, but all Rossi could say is that she didn't want to come back, with no other reason given to the team. Given Messer's earlier teaser of a reunion later on in the series, fans may want to start speculating on how this throwaway statement plays into the plot.
