The third film of the “Captain America” franchise will be out to set the tone for the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 3 movies. The third film titled, “Captain America: Civil War” will also feature a larger number of superheroes in one film. In fact, the film will have more characters with powers than the previous “Avengers” films.

Here is a summary of the casting and plot details so far:

“Captain America: Civil War” is based on the “Civil War” limited series by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven.

The plot thickens with the passing of the Superhero Registration Act of the U.S. government to put the people with superpowers under regulation. The Avengers will be split into two factions with Captain America Steve Rogers and Iron Man Tony Stark opposite each other.

Chris Evans will reprise his role as Captain America. He will lead the anti-registration team. Anthony Mackie will return as Falcon. Sebastian Stan as The Winter Soldier, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man and Emily Van Camp as Sharon Carter will all follow suit.

The pro-registration team is led by Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark. His team includes Scarlet Johansson as Black Widow, Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther and Paul Bettany as Vision.

“Captain America: Civil War” will be the entry point for Black Panther and Spider-Man as characters within the MCU.

Meanwhile, Mark Ruffalo’s the Hulk will not be present during the film. Instead, he will embark in a cosmic adventure with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in “Thor: Ragnarok.”

Recent casting update include Daniel Brühl as the supervillain Baron Zemo and Brock Rumlow as Crossbones.

Martin Freeman also joins the cast for an unspecified role that is rumoured to be Everett Ross, an interrogator and government expert assigned in Wakanda which is where Black Panther hails from.
