“X-Men” Aussie star, Hugh Jackman has called on to their fellow Australians to lend a helping hand in order to end the worsening famine in drought-affected areas in Horn of Africa.

Joined by his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, “The Australia” star has asked his fellowmen to find ways how to aid millions of Africans hit by the severe drought, that resulted in unfathomable hunger in the region.

In a video released by World Vision Australia, Jackman’s wife, Deborra explained the importance of helping the victims of famine, especially the children.

"Children are the most vulnerable in times of crisis like this and in the worst-hit areas of Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia nearly half a million young people are at risk of malnutrition," Furness was quoted as saying in the video.

Emphasizing that both her and Jackman have visited Ethiopia and both have first-hand knowledge on the crisis engulfing the region.

"Hugh and I have been in Ethiopia, and we've seen first-hand the World Vision staff who work on the ground. They're at the crisis points now providing lifesaving food and water," she said.

For his part, Jackman put emphasis on the kinds of work he already started with the Australian arm of World Vision.

"World Vision are also supporting long-term programs such as drought-tolerant crops, help for herders' animals, and families to diversify their income source so that drought doesn't leave them without an income,"

The star for “Someone Like You” also reiterated the “urgency of needs” of the famine victims in Horn of Africa.

"World Vision urgently needs your help to assist those in need," the “Les Miserables” star concluded.
