Batman, Superman, Deadpool, Captain America and a whole slew of other superheroes may be smashing the box office, but Bindi Irwin has only one superhero in mind: her late dad, Steve Irwin.

The 17-year-old Australian actress, TV personality and wildlife warrior recently took to social media to share a photo of herself with Steve, dubbed the Crocodile Hunter. Steve was carrying baby Bindi on one arm, and a koala bear on the other. Bindi, who was wearing a brown Australia Zoo uniform in the picture, wrote, “Looking through old photos - Baby Bindi adventures with my superhero.”

Bindi’s post immediately elicited positive reactions from fans, reaching more than 100,000 likes in Instagram. They also offered Bindi their words of support and admiration for her and her dad. Many of her followers also can’t help but compare her with her with Steve.

Instagram user short_but_fun wrote, “Your dad was amazing. I loved to watch him, he was so full of joy and love for the animals. You are a lot like him.” Another one, who goes by the username izzy25agpalo, commented, “He was my hero and the reason I am a research biologist. Grew up watching him, your mom, and you and realized that all I want to do with my life is work with and help animals.”

One fan, called b_awesome_22, said, “I am still so so sorry for your loss but clearly your parents did something right because you are the most inspirational person I know!” Instagram user scoutysupercat, wrote, “Oh boy, there's so much love and happiness in this photo, beautiful.” A fan who goes by the username bnobleallen commented, “Your first dance partner- and he still is dancing among the stars with you in his heart! ”

Over on Twitter, Bindi’s fans also shared their sentiments about the photo.

Steve, who achieved worldwide fame from the television series “The Crocodile Hunter,” died at the age of 44 in September 2006. Whilst he was filming at a section of the Great Barrier Reef, he was attacked by a stingray which pierced his heart. His death is believed to be the only fatality from a stingray captured on film, but his family requested to destroy all copies of the video.

Bindi has been known to continue his legacy as a wildlife warrior, but also became popular in her own right. One of her recent achievements was winning “Dancing With The Stars” or “DWTS” Season 21 in late 2015.
