The “Google –Year In Search 2014” commercial has gone viral having reached more than 17 million views since it was posted on YouTube on Dec. 15, 2014. It also has received more than 65,000 likes outnumbering its 5,000 thumbs down.

“In 2014 we searched trillions of times,” the 92-second video starts. “What do these searches say about us? We search for hope more than fear, science more than fiction. We search for things we love and for greatness. We search to make sense. We search to remember. We search to be inspired.”

In December 2014, Google has revealed its most popular terms over the past 12 months worldwide. Robin Williams topped the list of most searched term followed by World Cup, Ebola, Malaysia Airlines and ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

Jennifer Lawrence dominated the list of most searched people followed by Kim Kardashian, Julie Gayet, Tracy Morgan and Renee Zellwegger while James Rodriguez was the most searched athlete followed by Michael Schumacher, Ray Rice, Luis Suarez and Neymar da Silva Santos.

Among the words related to consumer electronics, the most searched term was iPhone 6 followed by Samsung Galaxy S5, Nexus 6, Moto G and Samsung Note 4. ISIS, Crimea/Ukraine and Ferguson are also in the list of most searched terms related to global news.
