Citing Black Friday and Cyber Monday to be huge successes for the company, Microsoft has announced that the Xbox One holiday bundles will be getting a US $50 (approx. AU $69) discount. The Xbox One now shares the same price tag as the PlayStation 4 at US $ 299 (approx. AU $411).

On top of this, Microsoft has also announced via the Xbox Wire that its “countdown” sale will also begin this month. No time is better than Christmas holidays to grab more discounts on gaming consoles and popular titles of the year. As the Christmas is just a couple of weeks ahead, the shopping season for gamers has begun.

The US $50 (approx AU $69) discount for the Xbox One console bundles will be extended until Dec. 26. All Xbox One bundles sold via the Microsoft Store are eligible for the discount, including the Xbox One Elite Bundle, the Xbox One Limited Edition “Halo 5: Guardians Bundle,” the Xbox One 1TB Holiday that includes “Rare Replay,” the “Gears of War: Ultimate Edition” and a full-game download of “Ori and the Blind Forest.”

From Dec. 22 to Jan. 7, 2016, Microsoft is also bringing its biggest digital sale of the year named as “Countdown.” on Xbox Store. The sale will comprise of daily and weekly deals. More than 200 titles will be offered throughout the sale event daily, with discounts of 40 to 60 percent offered for all players, and an additional discount of 10 percent for Gold Members. The Countdown sale can be the right time for those interested in joining Xbox Live Gold Membership.

Xbox One Exclusive games such as “Halo 5: Guardians,” “Forza 6” and “Gears of War” make it a must have. Xbox One also let the players run content from set-top-box through their console and it can also be integrated with apps like Netflix, iPlayer and NFL. According to Microsoft, many national retailers will also offer holiday deals, so it makes sense to check those deals too.

Indeed, the Xbox One boasts a great lineup for 2016 and affordable bundles for 2015. However, it is not alone in the console. According to Forbes, its rival Sony has also teamed up with some leading developers to provide exclusive games for the PS4. Following its historic Black Friday 2015 sales, it will also be offering the PlayStation Holiday this December, which will offer various discounts for games.

Sony is also holding a PlayStation Holiday Sale this month after its historic Black Friday sales. The PlayStation 4 does have more power than the Xbox One especially for playing cross-platform games. It should be noted that recently PlayStation claimed to have the most successful Black Friday in the company’s history.
