A 33-year-old Nebraska woman was treated at the Creighton University Medical Center for a tiger bite on her left hand. But while undergoing treatment, Jacqueline Eide was aggressive toward the hospital workers and appear to be intoxicated or high on drugs.

According to officials of the Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium, Eide was likely bitten by Mai, an 18-year-old Malayan tiger when she sneaked into the zoo after hours on Halloween night and petted the beast, reports the Omaha World-Herald. Her friend brought her to the hospital for treatment.

Because of the incident, zoo officials are reviewing CCTV footage to know how she got inside the zoo’s gates and if anyone helped her. She could lose her fingers because of her injuries.

Zoo Executive Director Dennis Pate ordered the installation of additional cameras to monitor the place’s grounds and gates. He also ordered round-the-clock security, more security cameras, lights on paths and gate locks that are computer-controlled to monitor the exit and entry of staff and visitors.

Pate adds, “Emergency phone numbers are printed on maps for guests to call in case of an emergency, and security staff keep watch on ground around the clock.”

Police found about her illegal entry when they responded to the request for assistance at the hospital due to Eide’s disorderly conduct. Although she remains in the hospital, authorities have cited Eide, who has previous multiple convictions for derelict behaviour, for criminal trespass, reports CNN
