Open world RPG’s, especially those made by Bethesda tend to benefit from an immensely long shelf life, selling many units long after the game’s release. This is partially down the mammoth amount of content included in the games, but is also because the developer allow gamers include mod tools that allow gamers to alter the game in new and interesting ways. Developer CD Projekt Red promises that the mod tools found in “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” will be just as deep and nuanced.

Unfortunately, the REDKit mod tool will not launch with “The Witcher 3.” In an interview with WitcherBR, translated by DualShockers, CD Projekt Red visual effects artist José Teixeira explained that the team had a lot of work to do in order to make the REDKit mod tool more user friendly for gamers. He added that the fruits of the teams labour would pay off, as the powerful mod tools will allow gamers to create anything they want.

“During the development of the game we had to create many new things, many tools, and at this moment, this software, the REDKit, our REDEngine, is good but it’s complicated to use. Now we’re working to make it easier for the public, and then we will release it, we want to give as much freedom as possible so that you can do everything you want.”

On the official Witcher forums, the developer has been providing a bit more information on enemy behaviour and AI in the game. Gamers will be able to lure monsters into villages or towns, but the developer cautions that this won’t be easy, as most creatures are smart enough to avoid large settlements because of the number of humans about. Monsters will also engage in fights with each other and in certain situations will also attack NPC’s.

Responding to accusations the depictions of decapitation in the game were over the top, community manager Chris Priestly acknowledged that the physical effects were exaggerated, but said the team had taken artistic license to make the combat look cooler. Priestley also added that gamers could turn off slow motion finishers if they wish. Following a series of delays, “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” will finally be in gamers hands on May 19, when the game launches for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
