Independent MP Tony Windsor of New South Wales says the financial markets will continue activities while a new government is being formed.

The Independent from Australia's most populous state said, “ Someone will be the prime minister, the sun will come up and the financial markets will keep going and the world as we know it won't end.”

Windsor remained confident about negotiations on who will form the government. “We'll develop a process, it will be sorted out within a fortnight,” he said.

The representative added that he and the other independent candidates would vote as a block, if required. He said, “We're good friends... We have different issues we're interested in.”

Windsor maintains a strong stance against nuclear. “I said (before the election) if you want nuclear power to overcome some of the issues in the world, don't vote for me,” he stressed.

The elected public official is also not interested in the role of Speaker in the parliament. However, he is in favour of independent speakers but not in a hung parliament.

Being the speaker, according to Windsor, “is a vehicle to take you out of play and I don't want to be out of play. It would take away part of my role in representing the people of New England.”
