WhatsApp voice calling feature has not arrived for iOS devices. It is currently available only for Android users. For Windows Phone users, it is still under construction. Even though iPhone and iPad users are waiting for the arrival of WhatsApp Calling feature, there is a way through which users can still access the feature even before it is officially made available.

Jailbreaking And Activating WhatsApp Voice Calling For iOS

According to Redmond Pie, WhatsApp has already included a “Call” button on the very latest iOS edition of WhatsApp available on Apple App Store. However, the feature is not activated.

Since activation of voice calling on WhatsApp for iOS requires jailbreaking, users are required to check the version of iOS on their iPhone and iPad. Jailbreaking is not possible on iOS 8.2 and higher versions. If the iOS device is running on iOS 8.1.2 or earlier, jailbreaking is possible.

  1. The International Business Times report has steps that show how to jailbreak an iPad or iPhone running on iOS 8.1.2 or earlier. Once the device has been jalibroken, users are required to install the beta version of the latest WhatsApp for iOS from Cydia by visiting: http://cydia.angelxwind.net
  2. After downloading and installing AppSync Unified Beta, users are required to restart the device. After the device gets rebooted, the Mobile Safari is to be launched to access the following: https://dev2.whatsapp.net/iOS/WhatsApp/ Next, one needs to tap on the link for Install WhatsApp Beta present on the topside of the page. Once it is downloaded and installed, users are required to launch it from the home screen.
  3. The next step requires users to activate the voice calling feature by receiving a WhatsApp call from a user who is already using the said feature. Once it is done, WhatsApp voice calling will get activated.

Official Arrival Of WhatsApp Voice Calling For iOS Users

According to The Fuse Joplin, the cofounder of WhatsApp has expressed that the WhatsApp VOIPce calling feature for iOS users is currently under testing phase to check voice quality and other issues. It will be made available to all users in the forthcoming weeks.
