“Kung Fu Panda 3” is set to launch in theatres early in 2016. DreamWorks Animation recently teased fans with the first trailer of the third instalment of the hit animated film franchise.

ComingSoon reveals that in the animated feature film sequel, Po (Jack Black), is moving on his journey and will be facing two unique challenges. The first will be supernatural, while the second will be related to his real family. Po’s long-lost father will suddenly resurface, and the two will reunite to venture to a hidden panda paradise to meet several others like Po.

A new supernatural enemy, Kai, will be dominating most of China and defeat the best Kung Fu masters of the land. Po will be tasked to train an entire village of similarly clumsy pandas to create a fighting group of Kung Fu pandas. Po’s legendary Kung Fu master friends will also be in the new movie, namely Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Monkey (Jackie Chan), Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman), Mantis (Seth Rogen), Viper (Lucy Liu) and Crane (David Cross). Bryan Cranston will take on the role of Po’s father, while James Hong will play Mr. Ping.

The trailer lasts under three minutes and presents the new villain Kai, who appears to be a huge moose. Tigress warns Po that Kai may be too powerful for them to take down. He must immediately train the village pandas to learn how to fight to stop Kai.

Similar to the first two movies, “Kung Fu Panda 3” will most likely bring a lot of exciting fighting scenes and laughs to viewers.

Jennifer Yuh Nelson and Alessandro Carloni will direct “Kung Fu Panda 3,” while Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger will serve as scriptwriters, Digital Spy reports. The movie is by 20th Century Fox.

The first two “Kung Fu Panda” movies opened in 2008 and 2011, respectively. The two movies were nominated at the Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature Film. The two films raked in around $1.3 billion at the global box office.

“Kung Fu Panda 3” will launch on Jan. 29, 2016. More updates and details are expected in the coming weeks.
