It looks like Lagertha isn’t going away anytime soon. She is set to face many challenges on “Vikings” season 5, including a charging Harald (Peter Franzén) and the avenging sons of Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland). But if the social media posts of actress Katheryn Winnick – who plays the queen on the History show – are any indication, it’s going to be tough taking down Lagertha.

Spoiler alert: This article contains plot details about “Vikings” season 5. An official announcement has yet to be made regarding the air date of the season premiere. Episodes from the series’ previous seasons are available for Australian viewers to watch on SBS.

Harald is expected to be one of the chief antagonists in the upcoming season of “Vikings.” The man is dying for some Lothbrok blood, and he’s also coming for the queen. Harald can even be seen in the season 5 sneak peek looking seemingly cheerful while donning a crown on his head, which is certainly not a good sign for the fans of Lagertha, as the Scandinavian warlord and king wants nothing more than to rule the whole Norway.

The season 5 teaser also features the Seer’s (John Kavanagh) cryptic omen about what’s to come. Lagertha is astonished when she hears the words, which spell out doom.

“I see death. The consequences of Ragnar’s (Travis Fimmel) death are not yet played out,” the Seer prophesises. “You have only seen the beginning of the end. So now, prepare yourself for what is to come.”

When Lagertha asks for some enlightenment on her destiny, the Seer shuts her down. “Do you suppose you could change your fate if you knew it?” he retorts. Lagertha’s downfall seem inevitable, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that she’s going down without a fight, or at least make it hard for her enemies to finish her off.

Winnick recently posted a photo of the front page of a “Vikings” season 5 episode 16 script on her social media accounts (see photo below), which has led to some fans speculating that her character is set to remain on the show for an extended amount of time. The actress also previously posted an image of an episode 18 script, as noted by a Reddit user.

The upcoming season consists of 20 episodes. And if Lagertha does remain queen, much less alive, it’s going to be interesting to see how she fends off all of her adversaries up until the end of the season.

Winnick also recently teased Lagertha’s “new chair” in her Instagram account, and it looks perfect for a Viking royalty. The actress likewise took a shot at the upstart Ivar (Alex Høgh Andersen) in the said post, saying she’s “staying put.” Stay connected with IBTimes Australia for more “Vikings” season 5 updates.
